You should purchase the size that is closest to your pre-pregnancy pant size (pant size 0-8 is a XS/S and pant size 10-1X is a M/L).

I bought it online right when I came home from the hospital but did not start wearing it very often until about 2.5 weeks post birth. Before that, I was just too sore. I also found it unrealistic to wear around during the day. It creates a bit of a muffin top when you already feel as gross as you can, and it is annoying to have to remove everytime you go to the bathroom. Also, with a newborn and a toddler in the house, I've had my hands full and can't keep up with the belt. However, I wear it when I sleep and challenge myself to keep it on when I go nurse the baby during the night. I read on the website that you should wear it when sitting because that's when your hips expand the most. Also, during the day, I keep the belt at my nursing chair and slip it on really fast before nursing. That way, I'm wearing it when sitting. I'm now five weeks post-partum and this belt has me back in clothes I've not seen since three months along! It does take some getting used to, and I'd recommend wearing maternity pants or a long tank top to keep it from rubbing tender skin. The taking it off to go to the bathroom really isn't that big of a deal. I couldn't see my hips ever being small enough to fit back in my pre-pregnancy jeans. I had an unplanned c section so was unable to wear it for a week until I got my staples out, but wore it as much as possible during the day for 6 weeks after that. Three weeks post baby I was in those old jeans (with muffin tops and long shirts lol) and 2 mo post baby my hips were 2 inches smaller than they were before I got pregnant! I was worried about my jeans not fitting and they don't- they're all too big. If it's on tight enough it stays exactly where you put it when sitting and it's not the most comfortable thing, but you're not wearing it for comfort.When I was still in maternity clothes I could wear the belt under, but it was pretty unrealistic to wear it under jeans that are just fitting.
